Digital Paints

Practice_01

I’ve started playing around with doing some digital painting recently, to try to expand my current skillset a bit. Here’s my first attempt! It can be intimidating to try something new, especially when you already possess a process that you know and are comfortable with. I’m aware that I’m most at ease producing images with thick contour lines, images that feel very “drawn.” And that’s partially because that’s the aesthetic that tends to appeals to me most. But there can be value in reaching into the unknown sometimes too. You might discover something you don’t expect.

I only departed slightly from my comfort zone  with this piece. Maybe next time I’ll try pushing things further, or in a different way. Art’s meant to be about experimentation. Art’s meant to be about being brave. This is one of my attempts of reminding myself of that.
